Claude usage statistics 2026: the numbers, checked at the source.
Anthropic's run-rate revenue crossed $47 billion in May 2026, and around 39% of professional developers worldwide were using Claude Code at work in May–July 2026, according to JetBrains. Every figure on this page was read on 13 September 2026 on the page of the organisation that produced it, with the link, the date and what exactly it counts. Figures we could only find in press articles or blog roundups are listed separately, at the end.

How much revenue does Anthropic make?
Anthropic's run-rate revenue "crossed $47 billion" in May 2026, according to its Series H announcement of 28 May 2026. The same company gave "approximately $9 billion at the end of 2025", $14 billion on 12 February 2026 and "surpassed $30 billion" on 6 April 2026.
Every one of these is a run-rate: current revenue annualized, not revenue earned over a year. Anthropic has not published an annual revenue figure on its own pages. On 1 June 2026 it announced that it had confidentially submitted a draft S-1 to the SEC, and said the number of shares and the price "have not yet been set".
How big are Anthropic's customers?
Over 1,000 business customers were each spending more than $1 million a year on an annualized basis by 6 April 2026, up from over 500 in February: "doubling in less than two months" (Anthropic). In February, Anthropic also said that eight of the Fortune 10 were Claude customers.
Claude also reaches businesses through the cloud providers. Over 100,000 customers run Claude on Amazon Bedrock (Anthropic, 20 April 2026), and "thousands of customers" use it through Google Cloud (Google Cloud press release, 6 April 2026). The most recent total customer count we found on an Anthropic page is "more than 300,000 business customers", dated 23 October 2025.
How many developers use Claude Code?
Around 39% of professional developers worldwide used Claude Code at work in May–July 2026, up from 18% in January 2026, and 47% in the United States. For 31% it is the AI coding tool they use most. JetBrains measured this in its Developer Ecosystem Survey 2026, answered by more than 15,000 professional developers and reweighted by region and language. JetBrains sells competing coding tools, which is worth knowing when you read its numbers about a rival.
A year earlier, the Stack Overflow Developer Survey 2025 found that 42.8% of developers who answered the question had used Claude Sonnet models for development work, 45% of professionals against 30% of people learning to code. Stack Overflow notes that its sample leans toward its most engaged users.
On the money side, Claude Code's run-rate revenue passed $1 billion in November 2025, "just six months" after its public launch (Anthropic, 3 December 2025), and over $2.5 billion by 12 February 2026. A usage study of about 400,000 sessions from about 235,000 people found that Claude Code users spend an average of 20 hours per week using the tool, counted as time the tool was running (Anthropic, 16 June 2026). If you have not tried it yet, Claude Code for non-developers is the gentle start.
What share of the enterprise market does Anthropic hold?
It depends entirely on what you count, and the three best-known sources count three different things.
- Spend. Menlo Ventures estimates Anthropic earns 40% of US enterprise LLM spend, against 27% for OpenAI and 21% for Google, and about 54% of the coding market. The source is a survey of 495 US enterprise AI decision-makers in November 2025, and Menlo discloses that it is an Anthropic investor (Menlo Ventures).
- Paying firms. In August 2026, 43.78% of the US businesses on Ramp's card and bill-pay platform paid Anthropic, against 16.2% a year earlier. OpenAI was at 39.76%. This counts firms with at least one paid transaction, not dollars, and misses Claude bought through a cloud bill (Ramp AI Index).
- Requests on one router. OpenRouter publishes model shares, but only for traffic routed through OpenRouter. Its own page says it is "not the whole market and not usage on a model provider's own API" (OpenRouter).
Who has invested in Anthropic?
Anthropic raised $65 billion in its Series H at a $965 billion post-money valuation, including "$15 billion of previously committed investments from hyperscalers" (Anthropic, 28 May 2026). Three months earlier, its Series G had raised $30 billion at $380 billion.
Amazon's filings give the most precise picture of one investor. From Q3 2023 to Q4 2025 it invested $8.0 billion in Anthropic convertible notes; in Q2 2026 it invested $5.0 billion in Series G and $5.0 billion in Series H preferred stock (Amazon Form 10-Q, Q2 2026). Microsoft committed up to $5 billion and NVIDIA up to $10 billion in November 2025, while Anthropic committed to buy $30 billion of Azure compute (Microsoft).
What do people actually use Claude for?
In the June 2026 edition of the Anthropic Economic Index, 93% of Claude chat and Cowork conversations produced an artifact. The most common were explanations (17%), documents and reports (15%) and guidance (11%). Personal use goes from around 35% of conversations on weekdays to just under 50% on weekends. Claude Code sessions are served by Opus 54% of the time, against 10% of chat and Cowork conversations.
The January 2026 edition, on November 2025 data, split usage by how people work with Claude. On Claude.ai, 52% of conversations were augmentation, where the user works with Claude, and 45% automation, where Claude does the task. On the API, "three-quarters of interactions" were automation (Anthropic). The editions sample different populations and periods, so a share from one edition cannot be compared with a share from another.
Which surface people pick matters as much as the model. Our guide to every Claude surface maps chat, Cowork, Claude Code and the Office add-ins to the jobs they do best.
How much of Anthropic's own code does Claude write?
"As of May 2026, more than 80% of the code we merge into Anthropic's codebase was authored by Claude", Anthropic writes on its recursive self-improvement page. The page calls this measure more conservative than the "90% or more" quoted publicly by its leadership, and says lines of code overstate real productivity.
Which Claude numbers in circulation don't hold up?
"$65 billion run-rate revenue": widely reported in August 2026, citing an investor update. We found it on no Anthropic page. The latest figure Anthropic publishes is $47 billion, from May 2026.
"245 million monthly active users": attributed to an app-analytics firm on blog roundups. Anthropic publishes no user count, and we found no primary page for it.
"Claude writes 90% of Anthropic's code": a spoken claim. The figure Anthropic measured and published is more than 80%.
"Anthropic 34.4%, OpenAI 32.3%" on Ramp for May 2026: Ramp revises past months. Its live data now shows 41.01% and 39.54% for May 2026. Always cite a Ramp figure with the date you read it.
OpenRouter rankings read as market share: OpenRouter's leaderboard is often quoted as proof that Claude is losing or winning ground. Claude Code and direct API traffic do not go through OpenRouter, so its shares say nothing about Claude's share of the market.
Why these numbers matter if you use Claude every day
Twenty hours a week in Claude Code is a lot of context, and every session still starts from zero about you: your decisions, your clients, the way you like work done. Models keep improving; what they know about you does not, unless something keeps it. That is the layer getklyr.ai adds: a persistent memory that lives inside Claude Code and shows up in every session already knowing you.
If your week already runs through Claude, see the individual plan and the team option. And if long sessions are where you lose context, the auto-compact threshold that actually works is the quick fix.
